Even in this media age Americans often find it difficult to get a broad spectrum of information. Visitors to the US are often asked, “how do you know this”? or “where did you read that?” or say “I’ve never heard anything about it.” This  does not come from some willful collective head burying in the proverbial sand. It comes from the failure of the modern US media to inform the American public.

Equally, British media can become very ethnocentric.

The Anglo American is written to confront the filtering of the Anglo and American media. It reports original stories and brings challenging comment to the headline news that links Britain and United States.

You may not agree, but that is not the point. A new perspective will, hopefully, leave you thinking. And just maybe, through a better understanding, these two countries will be less divided by a common language.

Johnny {the anglo american} comes from a truly Anglo-American heritage with routes in Savannah, Los Angeles, London and Liverpool, that go back to the 1890’s. He has lived for over 15 years in the US. His love for the United States comes from listening the BBC radio’s weekly broadcasts of Alistair Cook’s “Letter from America” as a boy - the longest running journalist radio show of all time.

His background is working mainly in the media, with credits in British and American television and film. He is also a qualified English teacher and holds a Bachelors {BA Hons.} degree in English from The University of London.
